Woodlawn Needlework Show
Monday, 02 March 2009

I just got back from the Woodlawn Needlework show and was extremely impressed with the large variety of entries.  There were approximately 600 submissions this year and some wonderful pieces.

If you get a chance, please plan on visiting Woodlawn and seeing the show.  It will be there the entire month of March.  Nelly's Needlers also sponsor a great lunch.  Make sure you save room for a lemon tart for dessert!  I would recommend a sunnier day if you have a choice since the house can be a little dark on gray days.

Waste Knot Needlepoint entered 14 pieces under our name this year and received a total of 8 ribbons!  I could not ask for better results!  Congrats to all the winners and a special thanks goes out to our customers who were gracious enough to enter their pieces under our name!   We have some very tallented customers!

Ruth Dilts also won 2 ribbons and one was a 2nd place ribbon for her kimono which she will be teaching for us in April.  We still have a few spots in her class, so be sure to sign up early.

Happy stitching and hope to see you all soon!

Back from Market/New Classes/Trunk Show
Sunday, 01 February 2009

Please drop by the shop soon!

I'm back from the TNNA San Diego market and had great success!  New canvases are coming in almost daily and should continue for the new few months.  Please drop by to take a look.  We also have a new Vineyard Merino wool  as well as Gloriana Lorikeet overdyed wool coming to the shop shortly.  I love working with both wools and hope you will too!  They should be a great addition to our large thread collection.

Due to the success of our classes we have again added our beginner's class starting in May and our Rainbow Gallery Fiber Notebook class which will be a monthly event starting on May 30th.  Please check out our class calendar for details, dates and times.  Please sign up early.  Classes have been filling up quickly.

We still have open spots in our February Valentine's House class and our April Kimono Class.  The Kimono will be on display at the Woodlawn Exhibit in March.  It is absolutely georgeous!

Also, our February trunk show has arrived!  We have A Collection of Designs in the shop which has some wonderful canvases.  All trunk show canvases will be 15% off.  Julia's Needleworks will also be sending some Nutcrackers to add to our February trunk show.  Please drop by the shop to see what is available.  I'm hoping you will be pleasantly pleased!

Off to Market!
Wednesday, 14 January 2009

The National Needlearts Market, that is.

I'll be leaving for warm San Diego tomorrow to attend the TNNA Market.  Don't be too jealous since I'll spend a majority of my time in the convention center and barely see the outside.

Can't wait to start shopping!  I'll be checking out all the new products being offered and hope to have a majority in the shop in the next few weeks to follow.  Please drop by to see what's coming in.

Wiltex threads will be coming out with a new Vineyard merino wool that is a single twist and covers beautifully on an 18 mesh canvas and also on a 13 mesh painted canvas.  They will start with 90 new colors and hopefully expand along the same color line as the Vineyard silk.  We have them on order and hope to have them in the shop by the end of January or early February.  I was given a sample and loved working with it as well as the coverage!

A Collection of Designs Trunk show will be here in February including some of their new designs, fresh from Market.  We also have a number of great trunk shows set for 2009.  Please check out our trunk show calendar and mark your calendars as well!

Hope to see you all in the shop soon!  Winter is a wonderful time to stitch!

We will also have a Rainbow Gallery Fiber Notebook class in March which will use the entire Rainbow Gallery thread line using 70 different stitches.  This will make an excellent reference notebook when deciding what stitch or thread to use on your next canvas.

Please drop by the shop to take a look at the photos or models.  Class spaces are limited, so please sign up early!

New Beginner's class starting November 1st!

We had such a great response to our last beginner's class that we've decided to try and squeeze in another before the hectic Holidays.

This will be for the beginner stitcher.   You will learn the continental, basketweave, nobuko and smyrna cross stitches to complete an insert for a starfish pillow.   All materials and instruction will be included as well as a pre-finished pillow.  All you need to bring are your stitching  scissors.  Please come into the shop if you want to see the finished product.

The class will be held Saturdays November 1st and 8th from 10am to 1pm and be taught by Ruth Dilts at Waste Knot Needlepoint.

The cost of the class is $120.00.  Class size is limited so please sign up early!
